The Eight Sessions

In MBSAT, mindfulness is not only a way of calming the mind or being present. It is a tool for training the part of the brain that weighs our decisions — the ventromedial prefrontal cortex — so that we perceive more clearly and choose more skilfully. We call this training MINDING. It unfolds through eight sessions, available here online, that build BETA and META step by step and lower free energy: fewer surprises, less friction, less wear in how we think, feel and act.

The MBSAT Path has eight sessions, in two parts: four on BETA, four on META.

The sessions build on one another and are taken in order, from Session 1 to Session 8. Each one opens when the previous is complete. There is no fixed pace: a session can take a week or a month, and can be revisited at any time.

The sessions are part of MINDING – MBSAT 3.0. The book is the door: it opens the eight sessions and MBSATi, the companion that walks the Path with you. The MBSAT Foundation, a not-for-profit, carries MBSATi’s running costs during your learning period — the time it takes to walk the Path at a normal pace. Readers who want more of MBSATi’s time afterwards can continue by paying the AI provider directly; the Foundation handles no payments. How the book opens the sessions is explained on the Book & Research page.

For the structure of the Path and what each session covers, see The MBSAT Path.
